Re-arranging. Studio living.

Posted on Updated on

As always hubby is busy at work and with unpredictable time schedules so I’m usually alone at home. So to divert my boredom, I decided to re-arrange our bedroom (as I always do so every month, hehe).

Dubai is considered to be one of the most expensive place to live in. Everything is highly available, but of course money is always a price for luxury and comfort.

Its been 2 months since we moved in this new apartment. It’s an 800 sq ft studio apartment, its considered one of the Large sized flat in Discovery Garden. Some apartments is as small as only 385 sq ft, which is why I think getting this place is  almost like hitting the jackpot. Nice and comfy for the 4 of us (me hubby and our 2 cats).

Both of us being in the medical field (he’s a doctor, and i’m a nurse) this will serve as our temporary haven for the next few months/years. A place to study (for my upcoming NCLEX exam, and soon Insha allah my masters as well as for his MRCP exam which he needs in preparation to be a specialist).

I know right, both our lives are consumed on taking care of other people which is why a place this serene is just what we need.

Regarding the rent, I really don’t want to talk about it, all I can say is that.. it’s more than half a million in Philippine peso for a years rent. How crazy right?.. And prices are expected to increase every year… -_- Although  it’s almost twice the price than our previous apartment but this time we are near the metro, and of course 10 mins away from The Walk , Jumeirah and 20 mins drive to Burj Al Arab if we want to unwind, go out for dinner or to the beach to unwind.

The best part of this place is not only the availability of 13 private swimming pools which is nicely maintained and exclusive to residence, but it also only 10 mins drive to hubby’s workplace (Saudi German Hospital). Much better compared to our previous apartment which he had to drive a gruesome 45 mins along Moham’d Bin zayed highway from Barsha to International City.

Anyway, I did some re-arranging trying to make the most of studio life in Dubai.

Below are the photos:

As you can see below, it’s very quiet and peaceful.. it has a homey feel on it. A place to relax after attending patients and stressful things at work. (A view outside the terrace). And you can hear crickets at night, birds chirping in the morning — something I feel i’ve been deprived to since I left Philippines. Somehow a place to escape away from the bustling city noise.

The first time we opened the flat, we were immediately captivated by the huge lockers. Me and hubby have lots and lots of clothes, things and accessories — this actually solves our storage problem and it is one of the biggest lockers we saw so far. Now you can see why we fell inlove with it. ^_^

As I said, it’s still a work in progress and I tend to keep things at a minimum because dust accumulation is always a problem for me. I’m kind of a neat freak. I’m still investing on a good makeup dresser and a good drawers to keep things in place and make it dust free.
